Qwitters on Twitter

Oprah is bored with Twitter and Nielsen finds majority quit Twitter after only a month.

(via fimoculous / baltimore sun)

Not quite sure how Nielsen is gathering their info, but this doesn’t surprise me. I think there are a couple of things happening.

  1. Social Media fatigue.
  2. Not being able to figure out how to use Twitter effectively.
  3. Realization that most of the world consists of people who are not social media nutcase geeks and so they don’t find it necessary to tweet every five minutes of their day to total strangers like the rest of us because they have lives that don’t revolve around the internet. :)

I personally find Twitter most useful and interesting when it comes to real-time news/information gathering. I use Twitter search now just as much as Google search because Twitter will give me the most recent updates. I’m finding that the accounts I tend to follow now are people who are news sources and tweet interesting links, thoughts, questions, and information.

I completely get why some people get bored with it… and why others think it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

Good. Get them the hell outta here. I have seen a few IRL friends do the same thing. They hear me talk about Twitter, check it out and then join. They use it for about a month or so and then just stop using it. Get off my internetz!
